ABSTRACT (“Study on Displacement of Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) Wall by Using Microseismic Monitoring Technique in Melawan Stockpile of PT. Kaltim Prima Coal”)

Study on the Displacement of Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) Wall has been done by Using Microseismic Monitoring Technique in Melawan Stockpile of PT. Kaltim Prima Coal. This study aims to monitor the displacement to anticipate more damage. This study uses microseismic monitoring technique at which the first displacement is signed by microcrack.  Microseismic monitoring technique is one of passive geophysics methods. This technique can  be used to monitor the time and location of microcrack induced by the deformation process (damage) and rock failure. The data acquisition is performed by placing recording sensors in three locations, one on the west side and the other two in the east side. Based on observations on June to August, 24 microseismic events were recorded in 10 days with an average movement of 0.062 millimeters and the largest is 0.187 millimeters/day. Most events are recorded by first station located on the west side of the wall.
